Remnants in our memory

It was a historical day for volleyball at the capital. A sparkling hall and a dream exemplary complex when its construction is over….
This pride belongs to President Erol Ünal Karabıyık and his administration. They deserve a standing ovation.
Although I think it was a little early due to some of its missing parts, it was a glamorous ceremony. The most permanent memory from that day will be the amazing show by Şaman Dance Group. It was breathtaking.
Another detail in my mind was unnecessary plate ceremonies and speeches. The games I was longing for were only played per one set owing to these bureaucratic bits and pieces. In this country, we really love to make those people of the protocol talk as much as they can. We and the audience both got excessively bored.
As the speeches got longer and plate ceremonies turned into brute torture, growls dominated the crowd. In fact, dance show and All-Star vs. National Team games would be more than sufficient. Demet Akalın concert, on top of everything, would be a good final to the day.
Fortunately, we had the game of old gentlemen. It looked to me that the veterans lost no quality from their former form. They still can dig and jump away to every ball. Congratulations!
As we were watching the game, our eyes dived into President Erol Ünal Karabıyık who was the coach in that veterans’ game. His penetration into the game… More so, engrossing himself in the game and shouting at the players… They were some fascinating shots of the day.
The foundation of the new hall will be built soon in İstanbul. Having seen such a hall to be completed in 10 minutes, I believe that the hall in İstanbul will be put to the service of volleyball.
